University Leadership

As Vice Principal International, I lead the University of Edinburgh Internationalisation Strategy EDINBURGH GLOBAL

Research Aims & Outputs

As Professor of Reproductive Endocrinology and Honorary Consultant Clinical Scientist, I study the molecular and cellular events that regulate ovulation. My research broadly impacts reproductive health, including fertility regulation and major disease processes such as ovarian cancer. I have helped explain why women normally ovulate only one egg in each menstrual cycle, leading to the design of safer and more effective methods for stimulating ovarian function.

Over 200 academic publications, including national award-winning medical textbook of the year (1996) ‘Scientific Essentials of Reproductive Medicine’

Current Grants

I have received over 20 years uninterrupted Research Grant support from the Medical Research Council, totalling approx. £4m. Additional grant support over the same period from Research Councils, charitable trusts and European Commission, totalling approx. £1.5m.
